But its so satisfying when they don’t leak, even if the solder is a horror show.

Kinja'd!!!

This was the worst one by far, but I really globbed it in there because I couldn’t get to the backside of the pipe. Makes you feel really good at something when actually the flux is doing all the work.

I did not, the way my body contorted to get these and with a weak downhill knee and leg...Im okay with ugly.  I should note that mine were left of the big drip, not right.  I did 2 sleeves and a bend.

Uniweld MTT Micro 6000 Flexible Twin Tip https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FI1JB7E/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_I7d7DbA7ERBWW

Dual tips are perfect for that, not sure if they work with propane but my uncle’s have a similar nozzle for their acetlyne torch that I've used.

I hear you, sometimes getting the job done in a tight space so it is functionally perfect is all you need, aesthetics are for the young and flexible in those areas.

No leaks, AND you didn’t burn the house down in the process; that’s a win in my book!

Those don’t look the best. You want to use minimal flux, assemble the pipe, then wipe the pipe first, then heat, tap solder till melts, a little more heat, and just a second or of solder will fill the joint. More than that, especially on a vertical will go into the pipe or elbow. Since there is no flux except in the joint part the solder wont cause a mess and no need to wipe.

Depot never ceases to amaze me in their ability to have everything, except for whatever it is you need.

I haven’t soldered copper pipe for plumbing  since I was in high school! It’s either brass fittings with olives or PEX these days...

No leaks = no touch. Even if dumb looking.

That sucks.  We have 3 or 4 HD and Lowe’s within 5-10 miles of the house so normally not an issue here.  Those connectors are pretty badass and reusable if you make a mistake.  Amazon has some other brand options as well if you have a large project.  I still like to sweat joints if I can get to them easily with the torch.  But for adding in taps and tees to existing runs, those shark bites are the way to go.  I used a 1” ball valve one on my sprinkler feed line.  It was super simple and quick.  Love those things.
